Getting a Substance Abuse Counselor in the Anchorage School District

We are eighth graders at Gruening Middle School in Eagle River, Alaska.
Alaska teens are addicted to many different types of drugs and alcohol. According to the 2016 Alaska Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 42.2% teens of Alaska had binge drank in the past 30 days, compared to 12.5% of traditional high school students nationwide.
Several years ago, the Anchorage School District substance abuse counselors, they went into high schools and helped teens who wanted help with quitting substances (tobacco, alcohol and other drugs).
Let's bring back ASD program which provided substance abuse counselors in high schools. By signing this petition you will be showing the Anchorage School Board that you value this program and wish for them to return to preventing substance abuse in teens.
