OVERRIDE GREEN BAY MAYOR JAMES SCHMITT'S VETO OF FUNDING FOR COLBURN PARK POOL

This petition had 239 supporters

After nearly five years of countless public hearings and meetings at which input was sought from ALL about what should be done for the replacement of the 50 meter Colburn Park Pool;

After receiving that input, nearly five years of planning for the replacement of Colburn Park Pool has taken place during meetings at which ALL parties had a chance to provide their opinions and offer input;

After the City of Green Bay, by majority vote of the Common Council of the City of Green Bay, approved, in concept,  a plan for the replacement of the 50 meter Colburn Park Pool and, under the current mayor's direction, demanded private citizens (now known as Friends of Colburn Park Pool) raise $1 million to offset the city's costs of rebuilding of the 50 meter pool;

After the Friends of Colburn Park Pool raised the $1 million the City of Green Bay demanded;

After a majority of the alderpersons on the Common Council of the City of Green Bay approved the funding plan for the replacement of Colburn Park Pool and after the city of Green Bay directed use of a portion of the money raised...

the current mayor of the city of Green Bay, James Schmitt, in the eleventh hour, after all public debate on the project has occurred and after numerous council deliberations, has decided to veto the plan for funding the replacement of the 50 meter Colburn Park Pool....against the wishes of the the majority of common council members of the City of Green Bay who voted to approve it and against the wishes of all those who have supported the rebuilding of the 50 Meter Colburn Park Pool and have invested their precious time, money and energy seeing this project through to its fruition.

As such, we, the undersigned, respectfully ask the alderpersons of the Common Council of the City of Green Bay to vote to override the veto by the Mayor of the City of Green Bay of funding for the replacement of the 50 meter Colburn Park Pool.
