Today, it is estimated, that 1 in 6 women will get a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. It is also estimated that 1 in 2 Canadians will get a cancer diagnosis by 2030. A common drug in chemo therapies, is Newlasta. For three treatments a patient can expect to pay almost $10,000. Being that we have universal health care, and, cancer research hasn’t solved the problem it is imperative that our government protect us while we are vulnerable. It is of the utmost importance that Albertans NOT have to worry about medical costs, in addition to, all the other worries they face following a cancer diagnosis. Join me, in attempting to raise awareness of this issue and eliminate some uncertainty from the lives of cancer patients.
