Given the current state of students mental health, the students of Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy believe that exams should not take place in a traditional manner, this semester. Many students feel extremely overwhelmed by online school and other outside factors, namely, COVID-19. Exams add to the level of stress that students are experiencing. In addition to being responsible for content knowledge in six or more classes, students have had the added stress of learning how to navigate multiple technology platforms, deal with spotty or nonexistent WiFi, and juggling a new and different type of learning. Students have had to become more independent learners on asynchronous days and have had to acquire organizational skills that rival college expectations.  We propose that exams, if required, be used only to enhance students grade, not to the detriment of grades for an already stressed out student body.  Respectfully yours, the student body of SASA.
