Adidas, a licensee of Georgetown University, is in direct violation of the Georgetown University Code of Conduct for Licensees. Upon the closing of the factory PT Kizone in Indonesia, Adidas refused to pay the workers their severance, violating the clause in the code of conduct stating that licensees are required to "[pay] all applicable back wages, or any portion of them, found due to workers who manufactured the licensed articles."
Adidas's refusal to do so has resulted in the loss of income for many already-struggling families in Indonesia. Nike and the Dallas Cowboys, both of whom also manufactured clothing in PT Kizone, have paid the severance due to the workers, but Adidas has consistently refused. At one point, they offered food vouchers to the workers in lieu of their pay, to which the workers responded that food vouchers would not pay their rent, their medical bills, or send their children to school.
Sign the petition to demand that Georgetown enforce its code of conduct as part of its mission as a Jesuit institution, and cut its contract with Adidas.
