Field Day Belongs in May!

Field day is a tradition admired by all students, faculty, and staff here at St. Ignatius High School. We are able to cherish this tradition at the end of every May with our fellow friends, classmates, and teachers by enjoying ourselves and playing simple games. This year is not the same. The Administration of St. Ignatius High School have moved our Field Day this year to be on April 27, 2018; a month before the end of school. Not only could morale before finals be in great jeopardy, but also our experience as a student body can be jeopardized on this day.
Since 2000, the high temperature on April 27th has been in the 50's or lower 50% of the time. In fact, on only two days since 2000 has the temperature even broken 70 degrees. Moreover, the low temperatures have been in the 30's or 40's 83% of the time on April 27th. This is simply unacceptable. Does Field Day belong on a cold April day? Would you want to be running around outside and throw water balloons at your friends when it is 50 degrees outside?
Conversely, since 2000, May 21st has seen a high temperature over 70 degrees 56% of the time, and 60 degrees or higher 83% of the time. In other words, we are about as likely to get a day in the 50's in April as we are to get a day in the 70's in May. Let's protect the field day we love and cherish as a school community!
If you feel that the St. Ignatius High Scool Administration should serve the best interests of you, please sign this petition to move field day to May 21, 2018 or another date closer to the end of the year. Thank you for your time to participate in this survey and please share this information/survey with others.
