Street light is a basic facility within a community. It is an essential public service that provides a safer environment for night-time travelers as well as pedestrians. Street lights provides light to the residents, streets walkways, and parking lots. Proper use of street lighting can be considered as a protective method that provides economic and social benefits to the people as it enables road users to see the immediate surroundings in darkness accurately and easily.

However, as a resident, we observed that the insufficiency of street lights made us, residents, feel unsafe. There has been also some occurrence that we notice the numbers of accidents occurs in most areas where there has no street lights. This includes road accidents like rear-end collisions, single car accidents, and bicycle accidents. Lack of streetlights can also cause crimes like damage to properties, vandalism, rape, and theft. 

As an individual who’s part of this community. We are seeking help to prevent these kinds of incidents to happen. The adding of street lights will improve the visibility at night that will help us to have a safe, secure, and peaceful environment. We are looking up for the barangay officials, and the cooperation of the residents of Brgy. San Agustin, Iriga City to take part in this issue.
