Hello,

My name is Jared Richard and for as long as I can remember, I've loved the oscars. Ever since I was a kid I watched the academy awards every year, it was kinda like my family's super bowl. Recently Kevin Hart has stepped down as the host for the awards show and people are wondering who should replace him. So my choice to be the host this year is well, me.

Now before you scoff at this idea or think this is a prank, I'm being totally serious. While I'm no one famous, I do have hosting skills as I help run a local improv theater in Salem, OR and have done stand up comedy for 7 years. I grew up watching the oscars hosted by so many of my favorite comedians and loved the glitz and glamour. But what kept me watching was the love of seeing people's dreams come true. People who would often come from nowhere with nothing and get the chance to be told the art they created, meant something.

However, I know this is a long shot because well what are the actual chances of this actually happening? Slim to none, and yet it's my love of the movies and the oscars that has me taking my shot. It my be stupid and I'm sure people will ridicule me online or in person, but hey I can't be any worse than James Franco right?

So instead of getting a host that we've seen before or someone that is only chosen to escape controversy, try taking a shot. Because hey even if I screw it up or I'm terrible, at least this oscars will be a night to remember no matter what. But maybe, I don't screw it up and this is the night of my dreams that proves sometimes life is worth taking that impossible shot. That's what the oscars taught me and I so I figured rather than hope, I should at least try.
