Once-in-a-generation opportunity could be lost

Support Save The Priory

The Priory in Thatcham, West Berkshire, is currently under development as a community centre for the town's residents ready for a February opening.

It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a hub in Thatcham's town centre. Offering one-stop facilities for Town Council offices and the Police, the hub will also offer community organisations and residents free internet access and venue for their regular and ad hoc events. A museum celebrating the town's heritage and visitor information centre were put into the plan to attract visitors.

With the redevelopment at an advanced stage, The Thatcham Town Council has agreed to put The Priory on the market to see what offers will be made for the site in the heart of the town.

If they go ahead with their panic sale, they are:

  • Throwing aside a sound, Government-backed financial plan,
  • Ignoring nearly 2,000 residents who provided feedback to Thatcham Vision
  • Wasting more than £800,000.
