Once-in-a-generation opportunity could be lost
The Priory in Thatcham, West Berkshire, is currently under development as a community centre for the town's residents ready for a February opening.
It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a hub in Thatcham's town centre. Offering one-stop facilities for Town Council offices and the Police, the hub will also offer community organisations and residents free internet access and venue for their regular and ad hoc events. A museum celebrating the town's heritage and visitor information centre were put into the plan to attract visitors.
If they go ahead with their panic sale, they are:
- Throwing aside a sound, Government-backed financial plan,
- Ignoring nearly 2,000 residents who provided feedback to Thatcham Vision
- Wasting more than £800,000.
