To the Water Environment Federation (WEF) Board of Trustees, 

Thank you for your consideration to support the 2022 Year of Poo. As an active member of WEF, I believe in the messaging and impact of this initiative. It is our understanding that this grassroots campaign developed as part of WEF’s newly established Sustainable Biosolids Program, has been shelved due to concerns around professionalism and alignment with organizational strategies.

2022 Year of Poo is designed to educate the general public about the water reclamation process, including solids treatment. Lack of understanding by our communities and policy leaders establishes fear-based decision making and lack of support of our industry. This campaign is an additional strategy to our community outreach portfolio in order to change that.

I understand this is a difficult decision to make, thank you for your dedication to the organization and its members. We are all trying to do what is best for our industry and organization. Thank you for your consideration,
