Thank President Obama for Supporting the Freedom to Marry
President Obama made history by supporting the freedom to marry in his 2013 inauguration speech when he unequivocally stated, "Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well."
It is important that we take this opportunity to say thank you to the President for his comments. Leaders who demonstrate a commitment to human rights should be encouraged and supported for taking stands. Sign the petition right now and say thank you to President Obama, whose support is helping to build the necessary momentum to expand the support we need to win the freedom to marry in Oregon and across the nation.

Thank you, Mr. President, for making history by supporting the freedom to marry in your 2013 inauguration speech when you unequivocally stated, "Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well."
You made history for being the first President to mention the LGBT community in your inauguration speech, and your leadership sends the message that treating others as one would want to be treated includes allowing civil marriage for gay couples who are truly committed to each other. More and more, people have come through a journey to determine that committed couples, whether they are gay or straight, hope to marry for similar reasons – to make a lifetime promise to share the joys and sorrows that life brings. Your leadership brings us that much closer to the day when loving and committed couples can express their love in a way that is no different from any other couple.
Thank You, Mr. President, for your support and leadership!
