PLEASE can the government support the nation to collectively THANK and appreciate the Class of 2020 properly (from Year 6, Year 11 and 13 to University final year students)  with a simple, inexpensive, national event at the end of the Summer term.

The Class of 2020 have lost out on so much in recent months, in order to serve the greater good, but this is, so far, largely, collectively unrecognised. Exams and rites of passage have been cancelled, bringing concerns and insecurities for young people regarding their futures and, in some cases, shattering young people's confidence and motivation. But simple steps and a thank you could go a very long way...

Supported by government leaders, perhaps the Royal Family, the Department of Education, schools and communities, could we have a simple national event thanking our young people for their sacrifices and showing our appreciation? It needn't be expensive but could be a massive psychological boost for them.

What about a Class of 2020 event on Friday July 3rd for example? It might include: positive televised leadership thank you statements; a named day for the event; a song; a national graduation cheer; some online packs or ideas distributed which communities, families and schools can pick up on locally, for example? However achieved, the aim would be NOT TO FORGET the CLASS OF 2020 - offering some recognition and thanks for them nationally in whatever ways we collectively can.

It would surely mean a good deal to so many of our children and young people who may well need support with mental health, exam confidence, motivation for future steps and transitions in the coming months and going forwards. It’s the least we owe our children and the Class of 2020 - who are, after all, in our care and our future. Don't forget Class 2020!
