Boy's who want to play volleyball are getting the short end of the stick. From chances to play to the cost of playing boy's volleyball in Texas, it is clear that we do not have enough opportunity's to learn something new or try something we think we will enjoy.

For starters, most high schools do not have boy's volleyball teams. This means that most high school boy's don't really know it's out their. This also means that we are forced to play at the select few clubs that have boy's programs. This could be an hour away from our house or even further. It is also extremely expensive to play volleyball at the club level and you also need to be quite skilled which most boy's won't even get the chance to learn the sport beforehand. So from the cost of travel to the cost of playing there aren't a lot of people who can actually afford this.

When it comes down to it boys simply do not get the amount of playing time they need to develop in this sport. Unlike girls who get to practice at school 5 times a week and even possibly play club as well guys may practice 3 if they are lucky enough to play at a club. And the few schools that have boy's volleyball will only practice once a week.

This is unfair to guys who want to play volleyball and I believe we should petition our legislative committee to allow boy's volleyball to become a UIL regulated sport in high schools to give more boy's access to the sport and get chances to learn and grow in it.
