The Texas State University Student Government has shown to be ineffective in promoting the interest of the student body. The interest of the students should reflect the current climate of the community. The community currently needs racial justice: which includes economic, educational, and environmental change. The current memorandum and recent bills pushed by the student government do not reflect the need or interest of the student body. Due to recent events it is clear that the body meant to represent the students, the senate, the body president, and vice president, are incapable of escaping falling victim to political influence. However, unlike previous years the most recent government are being influenced by outside organizations.
By signing this petition you are affirming the notion that the university system and university allow the student body to hold a referendum to dissolve the student government. In addition to the abolishment of the student government, the university system and institution should seek alternative methods for student representation such as the model for selection of current graduate house of representatives.
