No to Texas State Senate Bill 242

0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500.

Texas Senator Konni Burton has introduced a bill to the Texas State Senate that would require Texas teachers to disclose a student's sexual orientation or gender identity to the student's parents regardless of whether or not the student has expressly asked the information not be shared.

This bill is dangerous to students' mental and physical well being as well as could as to the already large number of homeless LGBTQIA+ youth. Suicide rates would likely rise among students whose parents are not supportive of a LGBTQIA+ child. School counselors and teachers would no longer be safe to counsel students with questions about how to navigate life with a sexual orientation or gender identity other than heterosexual and cis-gender.

Please when the time comes to vote on this issue, say no. Shut it down entirely.
