Texas backyard chicken bills
Texas backyard chicken bills
Texas currently has not one but two bills in front of the state legislative branches concerning backyard chickens. A similar bill was allowed to die in the Senate last year. Please help us make sure that one or both of these bills, SB86 or HB2596 get through this time. In the grand scheme of things, a bill that allows Texas citizens to have a few chickens in their back yards is a minor one. But the environmental, nutritional , and emotional benefits far outweigh the negatives. With such issues as constitutional carry, legalized marijuana, and abolishing daylight saving time, this bill may seem silly to most members of the Texas Legislature but it matters to a large portion of the population . Please help us ensure that these bills get the attention we feel they deserve. We've been forced to move our girls outside of city limits because of a standing city ordinance that bans them. We want to bring our chickens home. Our 4 ISA Browns are quiet and silly and give us amazingly tasty and healthier than store bought eggs. I love knowing where my food comes from. I'm not putting Styrofoam egg containers or food scraps into my local landfill. They keep bugs and snakes under control and their scratching turns the soil. We enjoy watching their antics. They are an important part of our lives . Please let the State of Texas know that these bills matter. Thank you.
