The "Heartbeat Bill", also known as the six-week abortion ban or SB8, has been allowed to go in to effect in Texas. 

After six weeks, all abortions are now illegal in the state of Texas. This is a functional ban on abortions, since most pregnant people don't even know they're pregnant yet at six weeks.

Worse yet, to prevent pro choice groups from bringing legal challenges, the law encourages vigilante actions by strangers. Anyone can bring a lawsuit against anyone who gets an abortion and any abortion provider. If the vigilante is successful, they earn $10k plus all legal fees. Texas has effectively placed a standing bounty on the heads of ALL compassionate healthcare providers and ALL current and future persons with unwanted or untenable pregnancies.

Its easy to feel helpless in light of this, but there are things we can do. Most importantly, we start by boycotting the state. This means committing to:

-No tourist travel to Texas

-No investing in Texas based companies

-No buying from Texas-based companies (partial list available here )

-Any other activities directly supporting the state of Texas and it's corporate citizens

Money talks, and the money in Texas has been content to stay silent and profit as the human rights of childbearing people are ripped away. Humanitarian donations to Texas based charities and nonprofits serving Texans should be exempt from any boycott, excluding any charities or nonprofits actively supporting the abortion ban in Texas.
