Emergency room visits do not have to be the long, unpleasant experiences that we have known them to be. Freestanding emergency centers provide convenience because they are located closer to consumers, and speed of care because they have little to no waits. Both of these factors help to improve patient outcomes because patients don't have to drive long distances to receive care or wait for hours before being seen by a physician.
Freestanding Emergency Room facilities are clean and comfortable, and the friendly staff make you feel as though you are at home. The quality of care is unsurpassed, and patients are guaranteed to see a board-certified physician, which is not always the case at traditional hospital-based ERs.
I know what you're thinking. These facilities must cost an arm and a leg. But, freestanding emergency centers charges are comparable or less than hospital-based ERs. The kicker, freestanding emergency centers admit patients at a rate much less than hospital-based ERs, which saves about $2,000 per day for every avoided admittance.
But the main reason I support this industry is because I believe it is the solution to Texas' access to emergency care crisis. Texas has been rated the 47th worst state by the American College of Emergency Physicians for providing adequate access to emergency care. On top of that, 10 Texas rural hospitals have closed since 2009 and many more are at risk of closure. Freestanding emergency centers are the best solution to solve these challenges because they can sustain financially due to their lower overhead costs, where rural hospitals could not.
STAT Emergency Centers have been serving the following communities since 2014: Laredo, Zapata, Hebbronville, Bruni, Mirando, Benavidez, Oilton, San Ygnacio, Freer, Encinal and other surrounding area residents. Most recently we have opened our third facility in Eagle Pass, Texas. All of our facilities are located in the Southwest Texas Border Region, which are identified as medically under served / healthcare professional shortage areas.
Please sign this petition if you believe:
- Patients deserve quick access to emergency care ,or
- You have received quick access to emergency care at STAT ER ,and
- You would continue to use our emergency room.
Our emergency rooms not only provide medical services, we have a team of physicians and staff members that are involved in our community. We continuously participate in health fairs, sponsor under privileged children in schools, participate in local community events and support our veterans.
FECs address many of Texas' current healthcare options, and I hope that legislators look at ways FECs can be utilized to improve the overall healthcare landscape in Texas. Please support the growth of this innovative industry. To find out more about our facilities please visit statemergencycenter.com and tafec.org.
