Support Parenting Students in Higher Education

We, the undersigned, want a law implementing clear attendance policies for institutions of higher education, with specific considerations for the special needs of parenting students. Currently, attendance policy is left up to the discretion of individual professors and there are no laws protecting parenting students from negative repercussions for absences related to their children. Parenting students are more likely to miss school than traditional students due to ill children and/or childcare emergencies. Please implement a law permitting parenting students to have flexibility in their attendance as it pertains to their children without being dropped from a class or losing participation points. A law protecting parenting students would lead to higher retention and graduation rates in higher education, a stronger workforce, and a stronger economy, while providing a clear attendance policy for universities and professors to follow.
