Valeria Johnson Tennon is a 54 year old African American mother, wife, daughter, aunt, cousin, and sister to a family that loves her dearly. She has had many shortcomings due to traumatic life experiences that she has tried to manage and endure, but has fallen short indefinitely. Using brilliant but unhealthy mind, she allegedly helped conduct a sophisticated scheme which garnered over 1.3 million dollars. She was charged with a 1st degree felony of Aggregate theft, a crime in which others in Montgomery county with the same charges were given probation sentences. She however, was sentenced to 70 years. She plead guilty, believing the recommendation of her lawyer who promised that if she could vouch to rehabilitate through a probation period, that she wouldn't  have to serve prison time, much less than 70 years. When doing a simple Google search of 70 year sentences, mostly you will find rapes, assaults, and murders. We believe that a crime of theft does not equate to a lifetime sentence to a 54 year old woman. We are asking that you sign this petition demanding a pardon of this sentence from our governor, or even that the appeals court reconsider and reduce Mrs. Tennon's sentence drastically.

Mrs. Tennon is a beloved woman in her family and community and anyone who knows her will love her. Although she did commit a crime, the punishment of 70 years in prison simply doesn't fit as a consequence to her judgement. With enough noise we can protect future women from being taken advantage of this vicious judicial system.
