Abolishing " Sovereign Immunity" for the Texas school districts. Everyone that has children in schools in Texas need to know the following. Parents have been living under the assumption that when you drop your kids off at school, the school is 100% liable for the safety of your children. We as parents assume when you drop your kid off at school you are transferring care to the school. Oh no my friends, my son and five other kids skipped school 4/21/21. All five got into the same car in the middle of the day and the school didn't not even try and stop them. Its like they didn't care. While off campus he was murdered. Now I didn't call the school saying he could leave, I didn't write a note saying he could leave, he didn't even sign him self out no they just walked out a side door and no one batted an eyelash. My son didn't have a drivers license or a car there should have been no reason for him to be leaving campus. Most parents would naturally assume the school is liable. Well, not in Texas the sovereign immunity basically makes the schools bullet proof. I guarantee not many parents know this law is even a thing. This needs to change sovereign immunity needs to go. Hold Texas schools to the same standard they hold parents to.
