Jose Alamo started this petition to Governor of Texas Greg Abbott

Texas dentist are not allowed to use TeleDentistry as a method of communication with patients. Dentist's want to keep their patient's out of the emergency room and want to protect them from COVID-19 infection. Dentist's want to do their part in flattening the COVID-19 curve by adhering to the Governor's order to postpone “all surgeries and procedures that are not immediately medically necessary to preserve a patient’s life or avoid adverse medical consequences.” Teledentistry is a useful tool during this pandemic to triage patients evaluating if there is a need for emergency treatment or not. Teledentistry protects patients, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, and all office team members as it eliminated patients requiring an office visit minimizing personal contact. It preserves the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Our petition is for the use of Teledentistry at least during the COVID-19 pandemic and for specific codes:

D0140 - limited oral exam

D0170 - re-evaluation, established patient

D1071 - re-evaluation, post-operative

D9992 - dental case management

Please sign this petition urging Texas Governor to support and allow the use of TeleDentistry for Texas Dentist using the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently 48 U.S. states allow the use of Teledentistry.
