Why this petition matters

Started by Michael Conklin

We can add EV chargers where they are needed most, and we can do it without raising a single tax dollar.

EVs are Good for Texas: They keep our air clean while reducing our carbon emissions. They help keep our bodies healthy and our regions resilient. They are good for people, good for the planet, and good for Texas...plus they are affordable, safe, and fun to drive.

We Need More Charging: Although EV sales are growing in popularity and increasing sales at a rapid pace, the public charging network is not keeping up. We need more charging stations...

  • Along intercity corridors. At least one fast charging hub every 50 miles
  • Along evacuation routes to serve resident needs in case of a disaster
  • In multi-unit dwellings and workplaces, so that everyone can have a place to charge

What We Want: TCEQ is administering $31.4 million, through the TxVEMP (VW Settlement), for Statewide Zero Emission Vehicle infrastructure. We are asking TCEQ to allow multi-site applications and to give priority consideration to proposals that (1) provide intercity corridor fast charging, (2) evacuation route fast charging, and (3) slow charging in apartments and workplaces.

Doing so will help ensure that all Texas EV drivers have equal access to adequate charging for all their transportation needs.
