Texans: You Have the Right NOT to Breathe Secondhand Smoke

Texans: You Have the Right NOT to Breathe Secondhand Smoke

The Issue

Texas employees and customers have the right to breathe clean indoor air. Because science tells us secondhand smoke kills, we support a statewide smoke-free indoor workplace law to protect Texans from the dangers of secondhand smoke exposure in workplaces including bars and restaurants.

All employees should be protected from exposure to secondhand smoke in the workplace. Sign on to this letter of support today and help make indoor workplaces in Texas smoke-free.

The momentum is on our side. There is widespread, bipartisan support for a smoke-free workplace law in Texas. A survey found that 70% of Texas voters across the political spectrum favor a proposed statewide law that would prohibit smoking in indoor workplaces and public facilities including public buildings, offices, restaurants and bars.

We believe the Texas economy benefits from a healthy workforce. Legislation prohibiting smoking in indoor workplaces is an effective way to prevent the many diseases caused by exposure to secondhand smoke and will save Texas taxpayers and businesses money.

If you believe all Texans have the right NOT to breath secondhand smoke - sign the letter of support for a smoke-free Texas.
