Supporting responsible dog owners - everyone needs fresh air and exercise, especially at the moment.

I have walked my dogs off a lead for 5 years here and am from a farming background so I know when to put my dog on a lead to protect livestock. The people in charge of the Nature Reserve are being ridiculous to not only insist on a lead but also the length of it!!! Some people I meet walking my dogs have been walking them for their whole lives since they were children with their parents and are now 70? Why not target the few who are responsible for the death of livestock not alienate and punish the majority of dog walkers who are responsible. I should think the Nature Reserve will lose a lot of support. There is a lot of anger in the community and there needs to be a compromise.

I believe the nature reserve should be for everyone to enjoy - it sucks the joy out of walking if you constantly have to keep your dog on a lead - part of the pleasure of being out is to see your dog behaving freely in an open space and meeting with other dogs.

Simply do not believe this action is necessary. Punishing all dog walkers based on a tiny majority is wrong. The vast majority of dog owners respect the area and help to maintain its integrity. Please consult and reconsider.

It’s a public space, dogs need tone off lead and if they are well behaved dogs this should be allowed.

Why would you restrict dogs on this area. They need excersice and this is a great place for them to run.

Absolute joke! I’ve also walked my dog here for 12 years........yes some dogs need to be kept on a lead if they harass the livestock but the majority do not warrant this. It’s a public place funded by the taxpayer so keep the livestock in fenced areas.
