Tesco Ireland should reinstate the 'Greyhound Racing' offer amongst their Clubcard deals.
This petition had 587 supporters
On the 15th November 2016, World Animal Defenders (organisation and membership unknown), launched a petition called:
"Tell Tescos to remove greyhound racing from Clubcard deals."
Following its wide circulation on social media amongst various animal rights groups worldwide, approximately 1 week later the deal was withdrawn by Tescos and the following statement released:
"Tesco Ireland Statement
Tesco Ireland constantly reviews its offers to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers.
Following consultation with the IGB, this offer has concluded as a result of low levels of redemption since the beginning of 2016 and customer feedback. Following these recent deliberations, which are part of standard commercial partnerships, we have no current plans to reintroduce this offer.
- ENDS -"
There is an acknowledgment within the statement that 'customer feedback' influenced the decision to withdraw the offer. The Irish greyhound racing industry is a large employer and has many thousands of stakeholders throughout Ireland that should be aware of the influence of customer feedback and the action by Tescos Ireland.
If you, or your family and friends, are Tesco customers and you would like to avail of the 'Irish greyhound racing' offer as part of the Boost Clubcard scheme then please sign this petition asking Tesco Ireland to reinstate the offer.
