Emily-Jayne Hayton- Brooke started this petition to Tesco

Our local Tesco store is no longer selling children's books, after recent re-merchandising. As a primary school teacher, who is passionate about reading opportunities, it saddens and worries me.

Having spoken to one of the managers, it is clear Tesco have no plans to re-stock! Instead, they are using the extra space for toys and cards. I'm not sure we need half an aisle of cards. Is a whole section of candles more important than books?

Our village is full of families and children. Books and reading are fundamental to life long learning. Surely a perfect gift or treat. We all know it's essential and I strongly believe we should have access to buying good quality books locally.

Recent research demonstrates just how crucial reading for pleasure is to children's future mental health and economic success.

Please sign the petition, which I hope to send to Head Office at Tesco.

Also, when in the store please ask for children's books. This will raise staff members awareness of the situation and support the manager- who agrees with my concerns.

Thanks
