Tethering an animal in VA
There is no law in VA against tethering an animal. Animals are being abused by being "tied up" and left for the duration of their lives. This is animal abuse to the fullest. Other states have laws in place that no person shall tether, fasten, chain, tie, or restrain a dog to any dog house, tree, fence, or other stationary object. It is understandable that in some instances the animal needs to be tethered. A person may temporarily tether a dog “no longer than is necessary for the person to complete a temporary task.” What constitutes a reasonable time?? I suggest that VA follow a reasonable time period, and that it does not exceed three hours in a 24-hour period. Please help me put an end to animals being tethered (not just dogs) and having zero quality of life. If you have no time and room for a pet, you should not have one. Thank you!
