Conserve Yanahli WMA

Conserve Yanahli WMA
Why this petition matters
Tennessee State Representative Scott Cepicky of District 64 proposed House Bill 1674 to transfer management of Yanahli WMA from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) to Maury County. Yanahli WMA is home to over 12,000 acres of diverse habitat providing plenty of big game, small game, fishing, and recreational opportunities to the public.
Yanahli WMA is well known for its habitat management, and attracts hunters from all over the state and country. This land in the hands of any other agency other than the TWRA could disrupt and push out the local wildlife. This wildlife includes deer, turkey, quail, and the Willow Flycatcher and Blue-winged Warbler which are uncommon birds found elsewhere in Middle Tennessee.
Tennessee only offers 10% of its land to the public for recreation. This amount only allows for roughly 4 acres per registered hunter in the state. Yanahli WMA is one of the largest public land tracts in Middle Tennessee, and the removal of that would only impact public land hunters even more in the region. Please help by conserving our lands so we can continue to enjoy them along with generations to come.
