Scott DesJarlais, a doctor and also a Congressman representing Tennessee, has admitted to having sexual relations with his patients after national news reports disclosed a phone call he made to a patient that first came to him with a foot injury. He admits to having sex with the patient and the transcript reveals he called her to tell her that she needed to get an abortion and that he was willing to go with her to do it.
Doctors like this should not be allowed to practice in the state of Tennessee, or any other state that values reasonable ethical standards from their licensed physicians.
Scott DesJarlais has acted outside the ethical standards and he should not have a medical license. It's difficult for women to see a male doctor as it is. Many of those men are professionals and women are better off when they open up to those men with private details about their lives. You expect your doctor to treat you responsibly. You do not expect them to progress a sexual agenda while they are treating you. That is action unbecoming and it should not go unpunished.
Sign this petition and tell the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners and the American Medical Association to revoke the medical license of Dr. Scott DesJarlais for violating state ethics rules.
EDIT: I am editing this petition to include a link to the Chattanooga Times Free Press article with new revelations about Dr. Scott DesJarlais. Another woman has stepped forward to say that DesJarlais not only smoked marijuana during the course of their relationship, he also prescribed pain medication while on dates at his home. This doctor is beyond irresponsible and should never be allowed to treat another patient ever again in Tennessee.
