Tendring District Council

Why this petition matters

There is a proposal to build and Eco Hub - an electric vehicle (EV) charging station  with battery storage and a solar PV array, located between Kirby-le-Soken and Kirby Cross in north east Essex. The array will be surrounded by a two metre high fence plus the additional buildings needed to manage the site.

It is being sold to residents "Kirby will be doing its bit for the nation through the production of clean electricity that will feed into the National Grid and help reduce the impact of climate change"  and it will provide 12 needed charging stations.

What they do not say

  • It will take all the farmland, turning the area into a brownfield site in the long term, meaning that at the end of it's life it will be a prime site for building.
  • We need fields for food production, food prices are already going up.
  • Whilst green energy is needed, why do they not put solar panels on factories? why are builders not required to make new builds be it private or commercial green?
  • They do not talk about the impact on the neighbouring houses and individuals - are there any health implications?
  • The additional traffic, causing further bottlenecks
  • With a two metre high fence it could look like a prison.

NO THEY WANT TO TAKE AWAY OUR GREEN AND PLEASANT LAND THAT WE ENJOY AND WHY WE MOVED TO THIS AREA.
