Damascus over the past decade has been on a constant downfall. From the rate of racism and racial profiling Increasing to the disturbing Broomstick sexual assault. And many other unjustifiable incidents. This school has many positive aspects but is flooded with hate and stereotypes. This year I have sat down with students and staff that have attended the school of Damascus for multiple years, we spoke on how this year alone has mentally drained students and staff at an unreasonable level. Students are being targeted for their gender identity or their preferences. Some students do not feel safe in their learning environment. How are we supposed to be productive if we feel unsafe? We have had gun threats and bomb threats, we need a change. The school is roach-infested and has plenty of safety hazards as we saw today when a student fell off the bleachers. We can not afford to keep going through this, We need a change now.
