During the 14 months of COVID-19 limited operations, when Shady Park was closed for live music, residents moved into a new, luxury high rise building directly South from Shady Park. Mirabella at ASU.
A few weeks ago, some of these residents began a coordinated, aggressive campaign to attempt to force the City of Tempe to shut down live music at Shady Park. As a result, a violation/notice was sent to Shady Park--threatening criminal charges--that demands we: "refrain from selling tickets in advance of live entertainment."
To be clear, Shady Park has live music permits, and Shady Park has been operating under these permits since 2015. Those permits allow for live music, both indoor and outdoor, until 2am seven days a week. That is what this is really about.
Shady Park is working with some Tempe leaders and elected officials to find a long term solution, so we can all co-exist in this new environment, and those individuals are truly appreciated.
We need to stick together to save the venue we have all come to know & love. Shady Park will not be silenced & we will not back down. Permits are valid and should not be revoked or changed because of a few disgruntled neighbors. They were well aware of the location prior to signing lease agreements and if they were not aware, we should not be penalized for their ignorance.
