Tell your Senators Hands off Social Security

It’s a new year and a new Congress. But sadly, the same politicians who spent 2010 attacking Social Security are at it again. They’re demanding deep cuts to Social Security to reduce the deficit — despite the fact that Social Security hasn’t contributed one penny to the deficit. Social Security has a $2.6 TRILLION surplus!

Nearly all Americans will depend on Social Security at some point. And LGBT people have less income in retirement and have to rely on Social Security more than straight people.

Social Security is based on ONE simple promise: If you pay into the system, you’re guaranteed benefits when you need them. Period! This is one promise to the American people that politicians in Washington have no business breaking.

HANDS OFF SOCIAL SECURITY — NO CUTS TO BENEFITS

Letter to
U.S. Senate
Some politicians are attacking Social Security in an effort to reduce the deficit. The fact is, Social Security hasn’t contributed one penny to the deficit—Social Security has a $2.6 TRILLION surplus!

Social Security is based on ONE simple promise: If you pay into the system, you’re guaranteed benefits. Period! This is one promise to the American people that politicians in Washington have no business breaking.

Nearly all Americans will depend on Social Security at some point. And LGBT people have less income in retirement and have to rely on Social Security more than straight people.

I’m signing this petition to let you know that protecting Social Security is an LGBT and progressive value and it’s MY value. And it’s the right thing to do. Please do not allow the Senate to break this promise and put the most vulnerable Americans at risk.
