Petitioning United States Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy

Tell the Supreme Court to Hear Montana's Appeal of Citizen's United

Montana, in direct violation of the Citizens United decision, refused to strike down a hundred year old law banning corporate money in their state’s elections. Montanans believe that corporate spending corrupted their state’s political process a century ago, ergo their refusal to enforce Citizens United. Support their effort to strike down CU!

Letter to
United States Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy

I just signed the following petition addressed to: Supreme Court.

Hear Montana's Appeal of Citizen's United

Montana, in direct violation of the Citizens United decision, refused to strike down a hundred year old law banning corporate money in their state’s elections. Montanans believe that corporate spending corrupted their state’s political process a century ago, ergo their refusal to enforce Citizens United.

We, the undersigned, petition the Supreme Court to revisit the Citizens United decision, specifically the language in the opinion which reads:

"the Court now concludes that independent expenditures, including those made by corporations, do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption and the appearance of influence or access will not cause the electorate to lose faith in this democracy."

In light of the millions given in Wisconsin and California by corporations, millionaires, and their 527s, there is ample evidence to suggest that your Court erred in its estimation of both the actual damage caused, and the demoralization that the ruling is having on voters and therefore the viability of democracy in this country.

We ask that you vacate the Citizens United decision, or at the very least rule in favor of Montana's right to uphold its own state law.
