Brandon Urbas is a high school student in Michigan, where he is the only male cheerleader on his cheer team.  Recently, his cheer team took part in a competition with other Michigan high schools. But once the competition was over, the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) disqualified Brandon and his team, because the MHSAA said that male cheerleaders were forbidden under their rules.

I think Brandon should be allowed to compete and the rules should be changed. I mean the kid fought his way to become a male cheerleader. I stand behind him 100%. The rules should be changed to allow members of the opposite sex to compete in programs like cheerleading. Why does cheerleading have to have prejudicial tendencies? I mean if I had a son who wanted to be a cheerleader I would not stop him. I would allow him to go for it. I mean a guy being a cheerleader does help them. Many colleges offer scholarships for guys to join cheerleading teams. I mean my cousin was able to have his first semester of college paid for, from being a cheerleader.

I think Brandon's team should be allowed to be reinstated. I think what the MHSAA has done is not right and the rule should be changed. How would they feel if it was them? If men want to compete in things that are a all woman sport like cheer leading then rules should be changed.
