The school board is the entity that approves staffing plans when they approve a budget. The Superintendent, Sito Narcisse, and his staff overhauled the previously approved staffing plan and sent out impact letters based on this new staffing plan without board approval or knowledge. The board MUST NOT abdicate this responsibility. The EBR School Board members need to be REQUIRED to DO THEIR JOB and vote on the staffing plan changes. This current staffing plan significantly increases student to teacher ratios and has led to position cuts at ALL SCHOOLS before actual enrollment numbers are known. The administration is saying that this is to move staff from chronically "over" staffed schools to chronically "under" staffed schools, but that is simply a false statement. This plan does shift staff around, but staff is being cut at higher performing schools AND lower performing schools. This plan hurts all of our schools. As we have said time and time again; One size does not fit all in education. You cannot do one thing across the board and expect it to work.
