Tell Republicans: Attacks on Voting Rights Won't Go Unchallenged
Throughout our history, Americans have fought and died for the right to vote. And while we've made significant progress, even today there are those who seek to limit voting rights.
A few weeks ago marked the 48th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. It was a major victory in the Civil Rights Movement and for decades, the law has protected the right to vote for millions of America’s citizens.
Democrats know that our democracy works best when all of our voices are heard. But In the last few years, Republicans have dramatically stepped up their efforts to limit voting access – frequently disproportionately affecting communities of color, low-income voters, students, and the elderly.
They've tried passing restrictive voter ID laws, cutting back early-voting hours, and eliminating same-day voter registration. And just this year the Supreme Court struck down parts of this important law—making it easier for states with a history of discrimination to pass restrictive voting laws.
You can help. We must make sure that Republican attacks on voting rights don’t go unchallenged.
