All the parks in Montgomery County will be closing from dusk 'till dawn during January-February in a futile attempt to cull the deer population. Research has shown that in areas where such "management" occurs, the deer population actually increases! It makes sense--surviving deer can eat more from scarce food sources and nature fights back with an increase in twin births the following season. There are much better and more humane ways to keep the deer population safe for all.

I see the deer where I work in MD. We've taken so much of their land, we have too much traffic and cars on the road and this seems like blaming the deer due to man-made problems. The deer are friendly, harmless, shy of people, and beautiful. They are a wonder to see. We can learn from their peaceful ways.

This is an inhumane way to correct a situation.

I understand the herd check but why so barbaric and inhumane? The animal should not be made to or allowed to suffer.

If there are /really/ THAT many deer, then put some of them up for purchasable meat (supports park funds and provides food for people).
