As much as girls like cafés and lost puppies they like to build too. There should be a mix of what goes into the girls mag. They like knights and princesses. They want to be the hero, the master builder, and even the villain sometimes! I love the idea of a more girly magazine but they like the adventure as well.

Why not just add all of the colors including pink and purple in a gender neutral creative Lego sets? It should not matter if girls or boys like pink or purple or orange or any other color of the rainbow. While I see the point being raised about some sets being marketed towards girls being less build able, especially the smaller ones, some of the larger sets like Cinderella's Romantic Castle are just a buildable as ever, they are just very pink and purple. Maybe the grossly offensive assumption is that girls only like LEGOs if they have lots of pink and purple. It would be nice for LEGO marketing to quit enforcing gender stereotypes and typecasting. Like if the set their minds to create more sets in the Creator series that aren't vehicles of some sort.

I am female. I loved Lego when I was a child. My favourite was the knights castle with working drawbridge. Should it not have been?

Because all of my building toys when I was a little girl were in "boy" colors. Because I never saw a girl in the lego commercials as a little girl, and I liked legos even though they were in "boy" colors. I like the lions and tigers and the police officers and firefighters and harry potter lego sets. I liked building cities with even the plain regular lego bricks. Now, I see lego commercials with girls in them, but the toys marketed to girls are all superficial things that don't inspire girls to build things with the legos, to construct things, but rather to play out air-headed fantasies of vanity mirrors and cafes and shopping and flowers and clothes. Its stupid, and it discourages girls from creating and building, from something that could encourage them to pursue STEM careers later on in life. Put girls in the regular lego commercials!

It's a sexist attitude that we can do without. Just make toys!

Please STOP stereo typing girls and women! We are human beings not objects. We do not want toy makers or the media to objectify us as pretty ornaments that spend our days gazing into a mirror trying to look like pretty little dolls. This is an insult to all woman and females. We are intelligent human beings... we are not pink loving objects who aspire to be nothing more than a pretty object who is easily entertained idiots. Please join us in liberating the intellectual capabilities of the female mind and all we aspire to be.

I have two great nieces and went to buy 'starter kits' and then realised that all the females were auxiliary and the male characters did the 'real' jobs. Some example to set. The 'lego friends' ad above says it all. Euch!
