Tell Indiana to Ban Exotic Pets

Tell Indiana to Ban Exotic Pets

The Issue

Lions and tigers and bears... as pets?

In Indiana, wild animals can be kept as pets by private owners who have a license. The animals allowed include lions, hyenas, orangutans, anacondas, and more. Rescues like Black Pine Animal Sanctuary urge lawmakers to enact a ban on exotic pet ownership.

Recently, a lion in their care named Kovu died from kidney failure. His rescuers, who received Kovu from private owners who lost their license, blame those owners for his death.

Maintaining wild or exotic animals as pets is dangerous, irresponsible, and inhumane. It's time for Indiana to ban exotic pet ownership.
