According to the ACLU of Georgia, a Georgia school system has blocked access to educational LGBT websites on school computers. This violates free speech principles as well as the rights of students to access accurate information about the LGBT community. Tell the Gwinnett County school system to unblock LGBT sites!

Letter to
CEO/Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools J. Alvin Wilbanks
It has come to my attention that the Gwinnett County Public School system is using Internet filtering software that blocks educational LGBT websites from school computers. I find this very offensive and damaging to LGBT students across your school system.

Information being blocked include basic information about the rights of LGBT students, about gay/straight alliances and resources on bullying. All students, regardless of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation, deserve to access to this type of information in order to enhance their educational experience. It is incredibly discriminatory against LGBT students, and it robs LGBT and non-LGBT students alike of a valuable education.

In order to foster a welcoming environment for all students, these students must be able to express themselves and learn about others. Blocking education LGBT websites hurts all students. Please unblock these websites as soon as possible.
