The Uvalde report exposed the systemic failures in our police program. Almost 400 cops arrived at the Uvalde school after the shooter had broken in. Yet, they stayed outside and did not risk their lives to save those kids until it was too late! Over 70 minutes went by until the gunman was finally killed by officers from Border Patrol. By then, 19 children and two teachers were murdered. Also, from the 19 children, some could have been saved if the action to take out the shooter went faster. Those kids died because they bled out while the police sat on their hands!

             Court cases like Warren V DC and Deshaney V Winnebago County have basically stated and reinforced that the police don't have a legal obligation to protect you! Read that again!! The police don't have a legal obligation to protect you!!!!

             I believe that kids mandated by the state to receive an education are under the strict care of the state and thus, the police are obligated to protect them!! Looks like we need to have this written down into law so every police department in the nation takes notice and understands that the reason we hold police to a higher standard is because they put their lives at risk in many situations! I don’t want police to die while answering the call of duty to stop a mass shooter yet, I don’t want them to stand by and do nothing either! This will happen again unless we change the status quo which is, The police don’t have an obligation to protect the public!

If this is not an essential function of the police, to serve and protect the public then, why do we have the police? And why do they take taxes out of my paycheck if they are not going to act and protect me, my neighbors, and every other citizens of this country?
