Congress is considering whether to grant immunity to any telecom company that may have violated the law by assisting the administration in carrying out its illegal wiretapping program by handing over their customers’ private records without a warrant.

Under a version of the bill passed by the Senate and known as the FISA Amendments Act of 2007 (S.2248), the telecoms would be let off the hook for any past wrongdoing -- and by pulling the plug on litigation, the Bush-Cheney administration would get to keep buried important information about the extent of its illegal spying programs.

Tell Congress to hold the Bush-Cheney administration accountable for its illegal domestic spying. Demand that they say NO to telecom immunity!

Letter to
U.S. House of Representatives
U.S. Senate
My rights -- and the rights of every American -- are not negotiable. If telecommunications companies violated those rights and broke the law in order to facilitate the White House's warrantless wiretapping programs, they, along with members of the administration, must be held accountable.

I urge you to reject all efforts by the Bush administration or your fellow senators to grant retroactive immunity to [] telecom companies that assisted in the administration's illegal wiretapping and handed over their customers’ private information without a warrant.

Now, more than ever, we need checks and balances.
