This July, the International AIDS Conference will be held on US soil for the first time in nearly 30 years (a travel ban on HIV-positive individuals was finally lifted). This is a huge global moment to showcase the progress we’ve made in the fight against AIDS – particularly to Congress, as the conference is happening right in their backyard.
Congress still needs to finalize next year's budget and we've got to make sure they don't cut funding for life-saving AIDS programs. Urge them to reverse proposed budget cuts to the life-saving AIDS program PEPFAR and to fulfill our commitments to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. We'll then make sure to deliver your name to Capitol Hill during the week of the International AIDS Conference, July 23-28.
We've made incredible progress in the fight against AIDS. More than 6.6 million people are now on life-saving treatment, up from just 100,000 in 2002. But we've still got a long way to go to make sure we reach this big goal.
Add your name and tell Congress it's time to make the beginning of the end of AIDS a reality.
