Because children and low-income families did not cause this financial crisis. Stop targetting those who are not at fault and help lift them up...Focus on Revenues, not cuts that end up costing more in the short and long term!

Plus there are educational, health and mobility inequalities for America's poor, especially its minorities. America's level of economic disparity is similar to that of a third world tyranny. Unless htere are major changes, I'd suggest that if you are poor and want your children to have a real shot at the "American Dream" that you move to Denmark or Finland.

Tax the rich and help the poor until there are no poor no more...

It's high time that Congress wakes up to poverty in America! We have here, in our "great" free country, kids that eat only at their schools & due to this economy, go to bed hungry. It's time that the U.S. starts to be concerned about it's own-NOT other countries. We can somehow feed the world, but yet our own children starve??? It's totally appalling that we can't help our own children. & the elderly/disabled, who have to choose between food or medicine!. Well, Washington, DC, if the EARTHQUAKE didn't shake you up, tell me-what will???? Seems like God has had it with your greed & corruption, doesn't it......

Children who grow up in poverty struggle mightily as adults. Let's invest wisely now to save lives and long term costs.

because we can't do to our children what we have done to many wild animals; have them join the ranks of endangered species.

Poverty is not simply a lack of money. It is a situation that leads to a whole host of health, safety, and social issues on top of those already faced by an "average" family. If we all stand up and take steps to help those in need we will ALL be in a better place.

Because while kids are only 25% of the population, they are 100% of the future! We must invest wisely in our most precious resources!
