The incessant drumming in the background of nearly every program and film to cease
Why this petition matters

The incessant and loud background drumming is painful to the ears, very distressing and distracting. We long ago ceased going to the Cinema because of the volume of background music so we cannot see classic films at their best. In the home the television volume has to be turned up so we stand a chance of hearing the narration but it probably annoys neighbors not to mention those who have excellent hearing! . It is impossible to follow some programmes because the actors speak quietly and the music just drowns whatever they are saying. It is uncomfortable for the younger generation to sit through this when they have elderly folk with them. Even BBC does this during the reading of the News ...the only way to follow a program is to have the subtitles on permanently! This means we are relying on reading rather than listening ...it is easy to get out of the habit of listening - not good practice! The use of subtitles means we miss out on the action on the screen, we dont get to enjoy the scenery - basically we end up "reading a program"! It would be better all round if the reliance on drumming, background music etc were reduced somewhat if not taken out of the program altogether.
