Why this petition matters

I have gone around most mobile service providers trying to find a suitable international call package that allows me to communicate with my family in Zimbabwe. No one provider has a fair call package for Zimbabwe. I enquired with my provider, Telstra, who told me that Zimbabwe wasn’t included in any packages due to politics, but could not elaborate what politics, or why I was being caught up in this politics business. It’s so unfair and discriminatory for all the Zimbabweans, Zimbabwean born Aussies and anyone else with a connection with Zimbabwe to break the bank to connect with their families and loved ones. We are here because most of us have been direct or indirect victims of politics. Why are we now being victimised further by being denied access to affordable communication with our families and loved ones. For the past 20 months, we have not been able to visit our families due to the pandemic, and as things stand right now, there is uncertainty on when we will be able to do so without fearing the unknown. Having access to affordable call packages is that one critical step all mobile providers in Australia can take to support us as a community. I demand fairness
