Stop Vodafone and Airtel's Anti-consumer move of blocking calls inspite of account balance

Today, I received a message on my phone from Airtel stating that my outgoing calls has been terminated and I need to recharge with a plan in order to make it active again. The surprising element here is that I have a balance of 177 as of today on that sim.

As most of the users only use use Airtel and Vodafone numbers to receive calls, the companies have come up with a new plan to improve the average revenue per user (ARPU). The companies have introduced minimum prepaid recharge packs valid for a limited period only.

This is against the consumer rights. Even if you have a balance of more than 100, your outgoing calls will be blocked in 30 days and incoming as well, in 45 days if not recharged with a minimum pack of 35 rupees for 28 days. Also, it's more like a cartel formation between the telecom companies which is again illegal in India.

Airtel and Vodafone are going to be the first companies to introduce minimum recharge plans for customers to keep their connections active. If we don't stop this wrong practice right now and not ask the authorities for our rights, then more companies will follow this path.

So, I ask everyone to sign this petition so that it reaches the ears of TRAI. Let's make our voice be heard. I ask the authorities to take an immediate and strict action against these companies as well as to stop this wrong practice which is against the basic consumer rights.
