Petition update

Meeting with Smt.Rekha Sharma, NCW, Chairperson

Spurthi Kolipaka
Hyderabad, India

Feb 26, 2020 —

I have exciting news. My campaign has reached a milestone and it's because of your support. Thank you for signing my petition.

"We have already written twice to the State Government, once during Disha and received no response yet", said Rekha ma'am the minute i introduced the campaign. She also mentioned that only Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana are the only States without a Commission. She also attempted to speak with respected Chief Secretary, Telangana but couldn't reach him at the time.

Couple of takeaways from today's meet:
1. There needs to be a strong political will and desire to prioritize Women's safety, only then Women's Commission would be taken seriously
2. State Women and Child Welfare Department plays a huge role. Although, nomination is done directly by CM, file process and advocacy is to be done by Department.
3. A beautiful campus, well-lit office space, excellent ambience of NCW can certainly inspire other state commissions.
4. Most importantly, a vocal and active chairperson can steer the policies in the right direction and also push for its implementation.

Thank you, ma'am for your time, patience and efforts to make this country a safer place for all of us!

Now that we have the attention of authorities they are closely watching this petition. So let's show them how the signatures are increasing. For that I need you to please share this petition with your friends and family on Facebook and WhatsApp.
